The PML Southern Valley Seniors "Senior Player of the Year" (SPY) Award is an optional year-long competititon among the PML SVS members. At each regular season event (not including the end-of-the year Club Championship event), points are earned based on PARTICPATION and MONEY WON.

Standings based on the cumulative points earned by each member will be shown in the table below. The leaders in these standings will win an automatic invite to the SVS Club Championship event and share in the PML SPY prize money.

2007 SPY Points Competition Standings

If you would like to see who the "Senior Player of the Year" winners were in 2006 and 2005, the results for this competition are shown at the bottom of this page.

The amount of prize money will be determined based on the total number of members who choose to participate as of May 1, 2007. Those members who choose to join this competition will contribute $5.00 to the SPY pool of money.

PARTICIPATION points are awarded as follows: 10 points to each member who plays at non-PML SVS courses and 20 points to each member who plays in the SVS events at PML. MONEY WON points are awarded based on dollars won by a member at each event. For example, if in a particular event a player's team wins $12.50 per person, he gets 13 points in addition to his participation points.

As an example for how the money might be distributed, if 50 PML SVS members participate, the SPY prize money pool would be $250 and the top ten players in the standings would receive the following dollar amounts

    1     $50          5     $27          8     $12
    2     $42          6     $21          9     $ 7
    3     $37          7     $17         10     $ 5
    4     $32

The goal of this award is to promote SVS event participation amongst the PML SVS members and add a little "year-long excitement" to the season.

Note that even if you do not chooose to participate in the SPY competition, you will still be eligible to get a spot in the SVS Club Championship event.

If you have any questions about this SPY competition, do not hesitate to call the captain (Gary Oing, 209-962-1959).
